The NAMM Foundation’s Music Education Days program welcomed 928 music educators, music supervisors, music administrators and school board members to The 2014 NAMM Show. In addition, 350 members of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association attended as part of their annual conference held concurrently at the Disneyland Hotel. A lot of connections were made and best practices were shared throughout the program, as the accumulative attendance at the plenary, break-out and partner sessions was over 900. Plenary session highlights included presentations by UC Thornton School of Music Professor Larry Livingston and by the world-renowned brass ensemble Canadian Brass.

The mission of the Association for Popular Music Education (APME) is to promote and advance popular music at all levels of education both in the classroom and beyond…APME was created to advocate for popular music education and its advancement as a discipline. It provides educational opportunities for teachers and students, honors the rich history of popular music, and develops innovative ways to create, perform, and teach it. APME also serves to bring together all involved in the pursuit of teaching and making popular music at all levels including higher education, public school modern band and contemporary music programs, music companies, manufacturers, and popular music organizations.
We create opportunities for high school students to work with music professionals to get real-world experience and advice about how to have a career in music. And that includes any kind of music career – audio engineer, concert promoter, electronic music producer, manager, musician, music journalist, singer, songwriter – any music career. We also shine the spotlight on schools,students, and teachers who are doing really cool things with music. In fact, we just created the GRAMMY Music Educator Award to honor the role of music teachers.
The Canadian Music Educators’ Association/l’Association canadienne des musiciens éducateurs serves and connects those interested in music education including current and future educators, students, parents, and members of the community. The CMEA/ACME fosters the advancement of teaching and the lifelong learning of music. Our purpose is accomplished through publications, a dynamic website, advocacy, collaboration on key initiatives, applied research and regular communication with our members, provincial and territorial affiliates, partners and the international community.
The Coalition for Music Education was founded in 1992 when representatives of more than 20 music education organizations came together to share ideas to improve the state of music education in Canada. The Coalition quickly began working with parents and other concerned citizens to address concerns about music in schools. The UNESCO-NIE Centre for Arts Research in Education (CARE) is a clearing-house of research on the instrumental benefits of arts in education in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region.It is part of a region-wide network of Observatories stemming from the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Action Plan. These Observatories are tasked to collect, analyze, repackage and disseminate research about arts education in a web-accessible manner.
